The European Theatre Today – The Plays 4
Download PDFETC’s “The European Theatre Today” series worked with national juries to select the most innovative and exciting productions from across Europe and introduce them to European audiences and directors. The book is organised by country and presents summaries in English and French for several plays from each country. This edition, Plays 4, reviews around 80 plays from July 1997 to March 2000.
Introduction to the original publication:
This book “The European Theatre Today – The Plays 4”, of which you find here already the 4th edition, has become a precious guide for all those who are interested in new playwriting in Europe. The first three numbers published in 1993, 1995 and 1997, despite youthful faults, have met numerous readers and - even better - performers: nearly 45 plays presented in these books have after that been produced and performed in different countries.
The present issue covers the period between July 1997 and March 2000. It is preferable to publish this book in the even years from now on, to achieve a better coincidence of the work of the ETC and the Bonner Biennale that ETC was co- producing in these years.
This book tries to be more complete, more detailed and geographically more far-reaching.
